Local Howard County dentist Dr. Denise Halliburton is a native of New York City. She graduated from Hampton University with degrees in Biological Sciences, Bachelor of Science and Medical Science, and Master of Science. Then, she attended Howard University College of Dentistry, where she obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Halliburton completed her residency at Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Halliburton was commissioned in the US Army in 2003 after being an enlisted soldier upon graduation from high school. She served as a platoon leader in the US Army Reserves.
Dr. Halliburton is passionate about educating children in schools, churches, and non-profit organizations on proper oral hygiene and the importance of dentistry and overall wellness. She volunteers with TeamSmile and The Hope Clinic and has given dental care to people of Seine Bight, Belize. Dr. Halliburton is also a part-time faculty member in the General Dentistry clinic at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. She teaches 3rd and 4th-year dental students clinical skills on actual patients.
Dr. Halliburton is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. To earn a fellowship, she completed over 500 continuing education hours and passed a rigorous exam. She is also a member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and received advanced training at SPEAR.
In her spare time, Dr. Halliburton loves reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She can also be found on the lacrosse field cheering for her son, Shareef.
